Copycat Lofthouse Sugar Cookies

These soft, pillowy sugar cookies taste exactly like the famous Lofthouse cookies They are ideal for special occasions, parties, or as a tasty treat at any time.

Ingredients:

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • Food coloring optional
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and line baking sheets with parchment paper

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder

In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy

Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the sour cream, until the dough forms

If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the dough and mix until the color is evenly distributed

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets

Gently flatten each dough portion with the bottom of a glass or your fingers

Decorate the cookies with colorful sprinkles

Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely

Once cooled, store the cookies in an airtight container
